A fast drying, VOC compliant coating that both primes and seals plaster, wood, drywall and masonry. PRIME LOCK Plus provides excellent enamel hold-out will not raise wood grain; and is a high performance reactive stain blocker that seals stains from smoke damage, crayon, lipstick, etc. Can be topcoated with any latex or alkyd finish coat.
Surface Preparation - Surface to be painted must be clean and free of dirt, chalk, wax, grease, rust or loose, flaking paint. Dirt and chalk should be removed by scrubbing with warm soapy water and thoroughly rinsed with clean water. Wax should be removed with a commercial wax stripper or by solvent cleaning. Grease should be cleaned by using an oil and grease emulsifier or other surface prep degreaser. Rust must be removed by hand sanding vigorously or by conscientious power tool cleaning. Remove loose paint by scraping. Feather sand rough edges to insure a smooth finish coat. Remove sanding dust before paint application.
WARNING! If you scrape, sand or remove old paint, you may release lead dust. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE TO LEAD DUST CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH AS BRAIN DAMAGE, ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD ALSO AVOID EXPOSURE. Wear a NIOSH-approved respirator to control lead exposure. Carefully clean up with a HEPA vacuum and a wet mop. Application - Stir product with a circular, lifting motion before you begin to paint. Prime Lock™ Plus may be applied by brush, roller, spray or pad applicator at up to 350 square feet per gallon. This product is formulated to be applied without thinning. Do not thin if this would result in the product exceeding any VOC regulations in effect where it is being applied. If thinning is necessary, use mineral spirits when temperature is 70º F or above, or with VM & P if below 70º F. Do not thin more than 4 oz of mineral spirits or VM & P Naphtha per gallon. Do not apply Prime Lock™ Plus unless the surface, material and ambient temperatures are 45º F or over. Do not paint if surface temperature is within 5 degrees of the dew point.
Cleanup - Clean equipment with mineral spirits immediately after use. DANGER – Rags, steel wool or waste soaked with the product may spontaneously catch fire if improperly discarded. Immediately after use, place rags, steel wool or waste in a sealed water-filled metal container. USE COMPLETELY OR DISPOSE OF PROPERLY. This product contains organic solvents which may cause adverse effects to the environment if handled improperly. Emptied containers may retain product residue. Follow label warnings even after container is emptied. Residual vapors may explode on ignition Disposal of wastes containing either organic solvents or free-liquids in landfills is prohibited. Local disposal requirements vary; consult your sanitation department or state-designated environmental agency for local disposal options.
