Cabot Interior Pre-Stain Wood Conditioner is ideal for use on porous, soft-grained woods in order to achieve uniform penetration of stain. Formulated to stabilize uneven wood grain, it ensures a more even stain color and consistent appearance. (9.3 m˛) depending upon surface porosity. Do not thin. Where to Use Cabot Interior Pre-Stain Wood Conditioner can be used on porous and soft-grained woods. Preparing Your Surfaces General: Clean and dry surface thoroughly, removing all dirt, dust, wax and wood marks. New Wood: Lightly wipe surface of clean wood with a damp sponge to raise the grain. Allow to dry and then sand smooth. Repeat process if not smooth. Remove sanding dust before staining. Painted or Varnished Wood: Remove all paint and varnish with sandpaper or paint and varnish remover following manufacturer's instructions and safety precautions. Then follow new wood instructions. Application On large surfaces, work quickly in small sections. Saturate wood with a uniform coat of Pre-Stain Conditioner using a clean, lint-free cloth, bristle or foam brush. Allow no more than 5 minutes for penetration. Then wipe off all excess. Immediately after removal of Conditioner, apply Cabot Wood Stain following label directions. Do not allow Conditioner to dry. Surfaces which are allowed to dry will not accept stain! Cleanup and Disposal Clean brushes and equipment with mineral spirits. Dispose of empty cans or unused portion in accordance with local, state and federal regulations. Close container when not in use. Soak oily rags, lambswool, steel wool, cloths or any other material in water after use to avoid spontaneous combustion. Danger: Rags, steel wood or waste soaked with this product may spontaneously catch fire if improperly discarded. Immediately after each use, place rags, steel wool or waste in a sealed, water-filled metal container.
